JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi observed the sea worthiness of KM. Dobonsolo to ensure the readiness of the vessel for a motorcyclist homecoming trip from Tanjung Priok Port of Jakarta to Tanjung Emas Port of Semarang on June 21, 2017.
The Indonesian Minister for Transportation also given appreciation to 3 marine vessel captains on the anniversary of the Seafarers day, where one of the captain who got awarded is the master of KM.Dobonsolo. The World Seafarers Day which celebrated every 25 June was held earlier and simultaneously with the launching of free motorcyclist transport by marine vessels for Eid al-Fitr homecoming travels this year.
The Director General of Sea Transportation, Mr. Tonny Budiono stated that IMO always give special attention to the seafarers. In the celebration of the Day of Seafarer in 2017, IMO inviting all the world community to convey the message of thanks and appreciation to seafarers online. "The bottom line is that we have to respect the seafarers because being sailors are really heavy-duty jobs, often leaving behind their families while their lives are at stake.
Therefore, we have to appreciate the seafarers for their contribution," said Mr. Tonny
"The government through the Ministry of Transportation expressed their highest gratitude and appreciation to the Indonesian seafarers who have devoted themselves to the maritime world. Seafarers' role is very strategic and vital in distributing commodity goods, to deliver the prosperity around the world ".
For the services of seafarers, a ship can sail from one place to another until it reaches the destination. Moreover, they have also contributed a huge reserve for the State.
The Eid al-Fitr homecoming is the largest event for migrating people from the city to their hometown. In 2017 it was recorded from monitoring program at 52 ports that there are 1,259 vessels serves for connecting passengers throughout Indonesia and to June 22, there are 550,142 passengers boarded the vessels to take them back to their hometown.
