Pihak berwenang menghimbau agar para pengguna jasa pelayaran tetap waspada dan memastikan kesiapan teknis kapal sebelum berlayar guna menghindari kejadian serupa.

Dungkek – A marine accident occurred involving the motor vessel KLM Putra Bahari in the early hours of Thursday, June 5, 2025, at approximately 02:30 AM local time in the eastern waters of Dungkek Port. The vessel, carrying four crew members and a cargo consisting of bottled mineral water, instant noodles, and rice weighing around 500 kilograms, experienced engine trouble shortly after departure.
Due to the engine failure, the vessel became uncontrollable, was tossed by the waves, and drifted toward the shore before hitting a coral reef roughly 200 meters from the port. The impact caused a hull breach, leaving the vessel stranded on the reef.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. The cargo was promptly offloaded to land in order to prevent disruption to vessel traffic around the port. After the offloading process, the ship was successfully towed off the reef and brought alongside the pier for further handling.
Authorities urge all maritime operators to remain vigilant and ensure the seaworthiness of their vessels before setting sail to prevent similar incidents in the future.
