Gilimanuk, 31 Desember 2024 – Kebakaran terjadi pada salah satu muatan Truck Box di atas kapal penumpang ferry KMP Jambo VIII di koordinat 08° 0.400' S / 114° 25.900' E, tepat di depan Pelabuhan Penyeberangan Gilimanuk. Kapal yang sedang mengangkut 22 kendaraan roda empat, 7 sepeda motor, dan 42 penumpang tersebut berhasil mengatasi insiden tanpa korban jiwa berkat tindakan cepat dari nahkoda dan awak kapal.
KMP Jambo VIII, sebuah kapal ferry Ro-Ro berbendera Indonesia dengan call sign JZXV dan berat GT 1216, bertolak dari Dermaga MB II Pelabuhan Penyeberangan Ketapang pada tanggal 30 Desember 2024 pukul 23.14 WITA menuju Pelabuhan Penyeberangan Gilimanuk. Kapal dengan 14 awak di bawah komando Nahkoda Naspudin membawa berbagai muatan termasuk 22 kendaraan roda empat, 7 sepeda motor, dan 42 penumpang.
Pada pukul 23.50 WITA, ketika kapal menunggu jadwal sandar di Dermaga MB II Gilimanuk, kebakaran terjadi pada salah satu muatan Truck Box dengan nomor polisi L 9905 UC. Nahkoda dan ABK segera mengambil tindakan pemadaman menggunakan hydrant kapal. Nahkoda juga melapor kepada pihak LPS (BPTD Bali) Gilimanuk untuk memprioritaskan kapal bersandar di Dermaga MB I demi mempermudah evakuasi.
Proses evakuasi Truck Box yang terbakar dilakukan pada pukul 00.15 WITA tanggal 31 Desember 2024. Kendaraan tersebut dikeluarkan dari kapal dan dipindahkan ke luar area pelabuhan untuk menghindari potensi kerugian yang lebih besar. Pemadaman dan pendinginan dilanjutkan menggunakan hydrant milik Pelabuhan Gilimanuk.
Pada pukul 00.30 WITA, kebakaran berhasil dipadamkan sepenuhnya. Berkat kesigapan awak kapal, pihak pelabuhan, dan koordinasi dengan instansi terkait, tidak ada korban jiwa maupun kerugian besar lainnya dalam insiden ini.
Kapal KMP Jambo VIII yang dimiliki oleh PT. Duta Bahari Menara Line kembali berada dalam kondisi aman dan siap melanjutkan pelayanan.

Gilimanuk, December 31, 2024 – A fire broke out on one of the truck cargoes aboard the passenger ferry KMP Jambo VIII at coordinates 08° 0.400' S / 114° 25.900' E, just in front of Gilimanuk Ferry Port. The vessel, which was carrying 22 four-wheeled vehicles, 7 motorcycles, and 42 passengers, managed to handle the incident without casualties, thanks to the swift actions of the captain and crew.
KMP Jambo VIII, a Ro-Ro ferry flying the Indonesian flag with call sign JZXV and a gross tonnage of 1216, departed from Pier MB II of Ketapang Ferry Port on December 30, 2024, at 11:14 PM WITA en route to Gilimanuk Ferry Port. The ferry, under the command of Captain Naspudin, was carrying various cargoes, including 22 four-wheeled vehicles, 7 motorcycles, and 42 passengers, along with 14 crew members.
At 11:50 PM WITA, while waiting for its docking schedule at Pier MB II Gilimanuk, a fire occurred in one of the truck cargoes, a box truck with license plate number L 9905 UC. The captain and crew immediately took action to extinguish the fire using the ship’s hydrant system. The captain also reported the incident to the Gilimanuk Port Authority (BPTD Bali), requesting priority docking at Pier MB I to facilitate the evacuation of the burning truck.
The evacuation of the burning truck was carried out at 12:15 AM WITA on December 31, 2024. The truck was removed from the ship and moved out of the port area to prevent further damage or casualties. Fire suppression and cooling efforts continued using hydrants owned by Gilimanuk Port.
By 12:30 AM WITA, the fire was completely extinguished. Thanks to the quick response of the ship’s crew, port authorities, and coordination with related agencies, there were no casualties or significant losses reported in this incident.
KMP Jambo VIII, owned by PT. Duta Bahari Menara Line, is now in a safe condition and ready to resume operations.
