Talang Duku, 01 Oktober 2024 – Sebuah kecelakaan kapal terjadi pada hari Minggu, 29 September 2024, saat Tug Boat Dwi Randa, yang beroperasi di bawah PT. Putra Batanghari, mengalami kebakaran akibat overheat mesin. Kapal berbendera Indonesia ini sedang menggandeng Tug Boat Fortune Nusantara XI dan berlayar menuju huluan ketika insiden tersebut terjadi.
Kejadian berlangsung di perairan Lubuk Ruso, dengan posisi 01° 34' 025'' S / 103° 1' 139'' E, sekitar pukul 09.15 Waktu Lokal (LT). Menurut laporan, Nakhoda Dwi Randa mencoba menurunkan RPM setelah mendeteksi mesin yang overheat, namun usaha tersebut tidak berhasil. Ledakan terjadi di kamar mesin, menyebabkan kebakaran yang melahap bagian kapal.
Upaya pemadaman dilakukan oleh penduduk setempat, namun api tidak kunjung padam. Sebagai langkah penyelamatan, bagian buritan kapal ditenggelamkan untuk menghindari api yang semakin membesar. Setelah beberapa jam, api akhirnya berhasil dipadamkan sekitar pukul 15.00 LT.
Dari insiden ini, tidak ada korban jiwa yang dilaporkan, namun satu orang mengalami luka bakar. Sebagai tindakan sementara, Tug Boat Dwi Randa dipinggirkan untuk mencegah gangguan pada alur pelayaran di sekitarnya.

Talang Duku, October 1, 2024 – A maritime accident occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2024, when the Tug Boat Dwi Randa, operated by PT. Putra Batanghari, caught fire due to an engine overheating. This Indonesian-flagged vessel was towing the Tug Boat Fortune Nusantara XI and was en route upstream when the incident took place.
The event occurred in the waters of Lubuk Ruso, at coordinates 01° 34' 025'' S / 103° 1' 139'' E, around 09:15 Local Time (LT). According to reports, the captain of Dwi Randa attempted to reduce the RPM after detecting the overheating engine, but the effort was unsuccessful. An explosion occurred in the engine room, leading to a fire that engulfed parts of the vessel.
Efforts to extinguish the fire were made by local residents, but the flames could not be subdued. As a rescue measure, the stern of the vessel was scuttled to prevent the fire from spreading further. After several hours, the fire was finally extinguished around 15:00 LT.
No casualties have been reported from this incident, but one person sustained burns. As a precautionary measure, Tug Boat Dwi Randa has been sidelined to prevent disruption to the surrounding shipping lanes.
