Selat panjang, 02 September 2024 - Sebuah insiden kebakaran terjadi pada Senin sore, 02 September 2024, di perairan Selatpanjang. Kapal cepat SB. PORTI EXPRESS 22, yang memuat 12 ton sayuran, mengalami kebakaran hebat yang mengakibatkan kerugian material dan cedera.
Kejadian bermula ketika kapal bertolak dari Tanjung Buton pada pukul 15.30 LT dan tiba di perairan Selatpanjang sekitar pukul 16.30 LT dengan enam mesin dalam kondisi aktif. Namun, sekitar pukul 17.30 LT, mesin nomor 5 mengalami konsleting yang menyebabkan percikan api. Api dengan cepat menyambar muatan sayuran, memicu ledakan yang menyebabkan kebakaran besar di dalam kapal.
Dua kru kapal, yaitu Kepala Kamar Mesin (KKM) dan Anak Buah Kapal (ABK), segera menyelamatkan diri dengan melompat ke laut. Sementara itu, nahkoda dan kelasi yang berusaha memadamkan api terhambat karena Alat Pemadam Api Ringan (APAR) berada terlalu dekat dengan sumber api, sehingga mereka hanya bisa meminta pertolongan. Beruntung, kapal SB. MERANTI EXPRESS berada di dekat lokasi dan segera merespons panggilan darurat.
Meski tidak ada korban jiwa, KKM mengalami luka bakar di tangan dan langsung dilarikan ke RSUD Kepulauan Meranti untuk mendapatkan perawatan medis. Tim gabungan yang terdiri dari KSOP Kelas IV Selatpanjang, Sat. Polair Polres Meranti, KP3 Polres Kepulauan Meranti, serta Basarnas Kepulauan Meranti berhasil memadamkan api pada pukul 19.30 LT.
Lokasi kecelakaan ini berada di koordinat 1°0112N 102°4322E di perairan Selat Air Hitam, Selatpanjang. Penyebab pasti dari kebakaran ini masih dalam penyelidikan lebih lanjut oleh pihak berwenang.

Selat panjang, September 2, 2024 - A fire incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, September 2, 2024, in the waters of Selatpanjang. The high-speed vessel SB. PORTI EXPRESS 22, carrying 12 tons of vegetables, suffered a severe fire that resulted in material damage and injuries.
The incident began when the vessel departed from Tanjung Buton at 15:30 LT and arrived in the waters of Selatpanjang at approximately 16:30 LT with all six engines operational. However, around 17:30 LT, engine number 5 experienced a short circuit, leading to sparks that quickly ignited the vegetable cargo, triggering an explosion that caused a major fire onboard.
Two crew members, the Chief Engineer (KKM) and an Ordinary Seaman (ABK), immediately jumped into the sea to save themselves. Meanwhile, the captain and another crew member, who attempted to extinguish the fire, were hindered because the fire extinguisher was located too close to the source of the flames, forcing them to call for help. Fortunately, the SB. MERANTI EXPRESS was nearby and quickly responded to the distress call.
Although there were no fatalities, the Chief Engineer sustained burns on his hand and was promptly taken to the Meranti Islands General Hospital (RSUD) for medical treatment. A joint team comprising personnel from KSOP Class IV Selatpanjang, the Meranti Police Marine Unit (Sat. Polair Polres Meranti), KP3 of Meranti Islands Police, and Meranti Islands Basarnas successfully extinguished the fire by 19:30 LT.
The accident occurred at coordinates 1°0112N 102°4322E in the waters of Selat Air Hitam, Selatpanjang. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by the authorities.
