Pada tanggal 13 Mei 2024, sekitar pukul 06:15 WITA, sebuah kejadian kebakaran kapal terjadi di wilayah perairan Kalanis. Laporan masuk mengindikasikan bahwa pada pukul 06:43 WITA, sebuah kapal kayu atau kelotok, yang sedang menjalankan layanan jasa kepada Tug Boat Surya 03, yang menarik sebuah tongkang batubara, terlibat dalam insiden yang di luar dugaan. Kronologis kejadian menunjukkan bahwa kapal kayu / kelotok tersebut berada dalam posisi yang berdekatan atau berdampingan dengan Tug Boat Surya 03 saat terjadi. Namun, secara tiba-tiba, ledakan hebat terjadi dari kapal kelotok tersebut, menyebabkan terbakarnya kapal tersebut dan api merambat ke tugboat Surya 03 yang bersandar di sebelahnya.
Perlu dicatat bahwa kejadian ini menimpa kapal kelotok yang beroperasi di luar lingkup operasional PT Adaro Indonesia. Penyelidikan lebih lanjut sedang dilakukan untuk memahami penyebab pasti dan dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh insiden ini
Dari kejadian tersebut diinformasikan bahwa terdapat 3 (Tiga) Orang Korban dan ketiga korba dibawa ke SOS Kelanis. 2 orang korban mengalami luka bakar dan 1 orang korbar mengalami fracture (Patah tulang). Saat ini ketiga orang korban tersebut sudah dibawa ke RS Tamiyang untuk menjalani perawatan medis.

On May 13, 2024, at approximately 06:15 AM WITA, a ship fire incident occurred in the waters of Kalanis. Incoming reports indicated that at 06:43 AM WITA, a wooden boat or kelotok, which was providing services to Tug Boat Surya 03, pulling a coal barge, was involved in an unexpected incident. The chronology of events shows that the wooden boat/kelotok was in close proximity to Tug Boat Surya 03 when the incident occurred. However, suddenly, a powerful explosion erupted from the kelotok, causing it to catch fire and the flames to spread to Tug Boat Surya 03 moored nearby.
It is noted that this incident affected a kelotok operating outside the scope of PT Adaro Indonesia's operations. Further investigation is underway to understand the exact cause and impact of this incident.
From the incident, it is reported that there were 3 (Three) victims, all of whom were taken to SOS Kelanis. Two victims suffered burns while one victim experienced a fracture. Currently, all three victims have been transported to RS Tamiyang for medical treatment.
