Pada tanggal 19 Maret 2024, kapal KM Dewi Jaya 2 dengan GT 94 mengalami kecelakaan di perairan Selayar. Kapal tersebut terbalik dan tenggelam pada koordinat 6°29'60.00" S - 119°40'0.00" E. Dari total 37 orang penumpang, 11 orang berhasil selamat, sementara 2 orang dinyatakan meninggal dunia. Sedangkan 24 orang lainnya masih dalam pencarian.

Berdasarkan informasi dari aplikasi SARMAP pada tanggal 19 Maret 2024, pukul 07.00 WITA, ceceran SAR MAP telah berada di sekitar Pulau Batu Atas, Kabupaten Buton bagian selatan.

Informasi terbaru pada tanggal 19 Maret 2024, pukul 13.17 WITA, Basarnas menerima informasi dari Kasi Ops SAR Makassar bahwa sampai saat ini 24 orang lainnya masih dalam pencarian. Kapal-kapal yang melintasi alur pelayaran tersebut diimbau untuk memperhatikan kondisi sekitar, dan apabila menemukan tanda-tanda keberadaan korban, diharapkan dapat memberikan pertolongan pertama, evakuasi, dan melaporkan ke Basarnas Kendari atau SROP terdekat.
